Musings: Off The Road

November 25, 2020 in Field Notes

There’s a saying ‘leave a place better than you found it.’ I hope to do the same for the folks I cross paths with too — ‘leave a person better than you found them.’ It doesn’t take much to be kind with a smile, eye contact or active listening. I’m not the gold standard, but I do my best.

Looking back on my life the last 5 months, I would be remiss if I didn’t thank the wonderful humans I met along my travels who shaped my journey in a way I could not have done on my

own. I owe a great deal to each of you for the little drops of wisdom, the belly laughs, the sparks of creativity, and the vulnerability through intentional, challenging conversations. You may not know the impact you made, but I know. Thank you for creating ‘home’ all over the Western frontier. I authentically hope I did the same for you. After all, what is life if not shared with others.

What comes next? I don’t know. But I hope it looks a helluva lot like this.
